Plan Your Visit

Sandy Creek Nature Center is a 225 acre nature preserve that is home to a diverse group of animals, plants, and ecosystems.  Discover upland forests, fields, and wetlands full of life.  Hike a trail.  Check out beavers at the claypit pond.  See ruins of a turn-of-the-century brick factory and an 1800"s log house.  Visit the Oconee River and Sandy Creek.  Walk the Greenway or Cook"s Trail.  Find your own quiet place.

 
At ENSAT (Environment, Natural Science and Appropriate Technology Center), discover interactive wetlands exhibit complete with microscopes and a beaver lodge or meet a live sea turtle in the costal exhibit.  Use the resource library to learn about natural science and ecology.  Create nature crafts in the classroom or enjoy a story in the reading loft. Finally, visit the Frog Pond Gift shop and support your center.

 

Hike a Trail - Discover 225 acres of peaceful woods and wetlands and over 5 miles of trails there is plenty to explore. Travel to the confluence of Sandy Creek and the North Oconee River or explore Claypit Pond. 

 Going on a Hike?  Check out one of our Trail Packs.  Each pack contains materials to help you learn about several different topics.  Choose from, Insects, Birds, Wildlife, Tracks and Scat or Plants.  The packs are free to check out, just leave us your driver’s license and go and explore!
