Who Can Volunteer?
Volunteers are a vital part of the Natural Resources Division and its facilities. Through the years, their dedication and support have brought the wonders of nature to the community. The efforts and support of our volunteers have greatly increased our ability to accomplish our mission of providing places for outdoor recreation, conservation, environmental educaiton and awareness.
We welcome and appreciate all interested individuals and groups, and have have opportunties for people of all skill levels. Students looking for internship or practicum opportunities are welcome as well. Experience is not required to in order to volunteer; however training sessions or safelty proceedures may be nessesary before volunteering for certain activities.
What it Takes to Become a Volunteer
1. A desire to become involved - Volunteers are what make many of our programs happen! Whatever your expertise, we welcome your involvement. Volunteer orientations are scheduled quarterly and on and one and one basis. Fill out a volunteer inquiry form now or contact the Volunteer Coordinator by e-mail or by phone: (706)316-3615 to schedule an orientation.
2. Availablity - The time requirements vary with each volunteer opportunty We are flexable and can often accomidate your schedule. Time commitments range from an hour to whole days. Please take a look at Pathways our volunteer newsletter to review upcomming volunteer opportunties.
3. Commitment - Each volunteer is valuable to our division. Any level of commitment is welcome and appreciated. We only ask that you show up or call ahead for events you have volunteereed for - we are counting on you.
Volunteer Roles
Public Programs
Have an area of expertise? Or would like to learn more about certain subjects? Volunteer to lead or assist with any of our many programs, such as: archery, sailing,star watch programs, craft daze, Fishing Expo, Super Flight Kite Day, hiking and camping programs.
DAYS/ TIMES: Times vary with each program. Call for information.
Trail Keepers
With over 782 acres of land and over 10 miles of trails the Park always needs help in the area of trail upkeep. No group is too big or too small. Individuals and groups may choose to adopt a section of trail as part of our Trail Keepers Program.
DAYS/ TIMES: Any day, any time.
Disc Golf Volunteers
Take your game to another level. Help improve the Disc Golf Course. Earn hours towards a season pass and commemorative disc.
DAYS/ TIMES: There are periodic volunteer work days, please contact the volunteer coordinator for more details.
Gate House/Office Help
There can never be too much help around the park! Volunteers are neede in the Gatehouse on Wednesday and Thursday mornings for a couple of hours. You will get to interact with park visitors, collect entrance fees and answer the phone. Other opportuinities include writing articles, labeling mailers, and entering park data. Training Provided.

Photography & Artwork
The Park needs photographs and artwork for use in educational programs, publicity releases, promotional programs, t-shirts and publications. A great opportunity for building a portfolio. DAYS/TIMES: Any day, any time.
